It’s the Harley Davidson of the skiing world. It’s not just about what ski you are riding this season, but that you understand importance of the culture and the spirit of how you are doing it. From it’s grass roots as far back as 1205 and the rescue of Norwegian King Howcan by the Viking Soldiers on skis, and Sondre Nordheim being one of the worlds first official ski bum this is a sport that is steeped in history and is still evolving to this day.
The Equipment in 2005 has made the sport much more accessible whether you simply want to cruise around the forest, tour in the Mountains or crank the turns in the terrain park, there is a ski a boot and a binding that will assist you, in your aspirations. In this section you will find a selection of some of the products we sell.
Telemark skiing gives you the freedom of movement to cruise the forest to the high mountains due mainly to the type of equipment used. The boots were traditionally made from leather and whilst we still sell leather a majority of sales are from our Plastic boot range. Plastic will give you torsional strength along the sole unit, and a flex over the toe which will stay the say throughout the whole life of the boot. Tele skis have come along way too, they are much wider generally and will have a load of side cut which are all attributes to helping give the ski flotation in the soft snow, and carve those tight turns on the hard pack. Bindings believe it or not will also help you improve your technique. Giving you lateral support and faster lead changes, the boundaries are truly endless.
Below are a few guidelines to help you through the minefield of equipment that’s available.

There are three categories that the boots fit into they are Touring, Piste/Touring, and Piste only. Touring boots will be light weight and with a very soft toe flex models such as the Crispi CXT are a good choice. Piste/Touring boots tend to be of a stiffer toe flex, incorporate an extra clip one more than a Tour boot, and they come up the shin a little higher and give more support. Whilst they are ideal on piste they are also great for touring if you are happy to have a little more weight on the end of your foot. The final choice is an out and out Piste boot that is generally heavier and sits higher up the shin and usually a stiff flex giving tons of support allowing you to crank that high speed turns

Think about what type of skiing you intend to do for example piste or touring or even a bit of both. A powder ski will generally be extra wide giving loads of flotation in the deep powder but they lack the speed and power on the hard pack. As you can see there is always an element of compromise from one ski to the other, and the best advice I can give really is to get in contact with us at the store to give to a little more guidance.
